The best bars and pubs in Shoreditch

We’re a sensible bunch here at CKD but we’re also a social lot. As the saying goes: work hard, play hard. Below is our shortlist of places to grab a drink and have a chat.

We’ll be keeping this list updated, so do check back every now and then!

The Bridge

15 Kingsland Road, E2 8AA

This bar is the perfectly atypical combination of 1950s rock n roll and 19th century boudoir styles. It’s a happy and well-balanced mix of black and white photographs and classical oil paintings, together with velvety sofas and retro trinkets. The music choice adds to this unsettling, yet cosy atmosphere and reflects once again the successful mix of styles and eras. Come by for a drink to the sound of Johnny Cash or Buena Vista Social Club, but more importantly, come by to be mesmerised, and don’t even be sorry to be enchanted by the outmoded décor! Plus it’s a good spot for a first date – in case you run out of conversation, you can always comment on the surrounding collection of antiques.

Old Fountain

3 Baldwin Street, EC1V 9NU

Located down a little side street round just off Old Street roundabout, this easily overlooked pub is not one to miss. With a large selection of ales, lagers and porters on tap – we’re talking more than 15 at any given time – this pub cements itself on our regulars’ list. Oh and did we mention there’s a roof terrace and great food?

Barrio East

141-143 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6JE

Do Mexican vibes, strong cocktails and eclectic styling sound like your kind of thing? If so, Barrio East has you covered. Located on Shoreditch High Street, it’s the perfect spot for some after work drinks.

Singer Tavern

1 City Road, EC1Y 1AG

A breath of fresh air in the City, the Singer Tavern offers a wide open space with windows in every direction you look. Its light, bright setting is the perfect place to unwind after a day at the studio. The mint and cardamom G&T is highly recommended but not for the faint hearted as it comes served in a goblet!
